Checklist

  1. were the grabber kids build able to hold up the objects?

how to play

The materials can be given to the kids individually. Begin by telling a short story, such as helping a tiny creature collect objects scattered around a garden, to make the activity fun and relatable. Give each kid materials like 4 sausage sticks, few rubber bands, and small objects to pick up. Explain that they need to design a grabber tool using the sticks and rubber bands to pick up the objects without using their hands. Encourage them to experiment freely, adjusting their design for better grip and control. If they face difficulties, give hints such as: How can you join the sticks with the rubber bands? How can the grabber hold objects firmly? How can the design make it easier to pick up objects? Ensure each child gets enough time to try using their grabber and have fun.

Challanges

  1. You can ask kids to make a grabber using sausage sticks and rubber bands.
  2. The kids should be able to grab and put something down.
  3. Provide different materials of different sizes and textures, such as pebbles, papers, and sticks, and ask kids the differences on how the grabber can hold these.
  4. Place the object to be grabbed in a nearer place initially, then you can keep it in a far distance and ask kids to make changes in their grabber to grab these easily.

Questions to be asked

  1. What kind of objects can be grabbed using the grabber? Why or why not?
  2. Can lightweight materials like straw be used to make a grabber?
  3. What differences can be seen when the rubbers used in the grabber are tied loosely and tightly?
